‘MyCGHS’ Mobile Application

  • The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare digitally launched the revamped Central Government Health Scheme website “www.cghs.gov.in” and a mobile application “MyCGHS” for the same.
  • The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is the nodal healthcare provider to Central Government employees, pensioners and certain other category of beneficiaries and their dependents enrolled under the scheme.

Indo-Israel Relationship

  • A commemorative logo marking the 30 years of diplomatic ties between India and Israel was launched on Monday (24-01-2022).
  • The logo was jointly launched by the Ambassador of Israel to India Naor Gilonand and Ambassador of India to Israel Sanjeev Singla.
  • The commemoration logo features the two symbols in the flags of both countries - Star of David and Ashoka Chakra, along with the numeral ‘30’ depicting the anniversary of bilateral relations.
  • The was designed by an Indian student, Nikhil Kumar Rai.

BANKING

India - $300bn Electronics Production by 2026

  • Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) in association with the India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) released 2nd Volume of Vision Document on Electronics Manufacturing.
  • According to the vision document, India will produce electronics goods worth of $300 by the end of year 2026.
  • However, the predicted value is less than the target set by the National Policy on Economics (NPE) 2019.
  • In the vision document NPE 2019, a target of $400bn was set to boost the electronics goods manufacturing by 2026.
  • The electronics manufacturing in India has increased from $37.1 billion in 2015-16 to $67.3 billion in 2020-21.

World’s largest Gherkins exporters

  • According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India has emerged as the largest exporter of gherkins in the world.
  • Gherkins or cornichons are pickled cucumbers, prepared and preserved by vinegar or acetic acid, left to ferment for a period of time.
  • In the last financial year, India exported USD 200 million mark of agricultural processed product – pickling cucumber, globally known as gherkins or cornichons.
  • Gherkin cultivation, processing, and exports started in India during the early 1990s in Karnataka. It later got extended to the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
  • Nearly 15% production of the world’s gherkin requirement is grown in India.
  • Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has played a significant role in the promotion of export of processed vegetables and is also focusing on the value addition of gherkins to increase the export value of the product.

Syed Modi International Tournament

  • Two-time Olympic medalist, P.V. Sindhu has won the Women’s singles title at the Syed Modi International tournament.
  • Sindhu defeated Malvika Bansod in the summit clash in Lucknow.

National Girl Child Day

  • National Girl Child Day is observed on 24th January every year in India
  • The day is to promote awareness about the rights of a girl child and to promote the importance of their education, health, and nutrition.
  • National Girl Child Day was first initiated in 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Major Govt., Initiatives for Girl Child:

  • The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR),a statutory body constituted by the Government of India under section (3) of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005,working under the aegis of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt of India.
  • Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is a campaign of the Government of India that aims to generate awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services intended for girls in India.

AWARDS / PRIZES

Rashtriya Bal Purashkar Awards

  • PM had interacted with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar awardess 2021-22.
  • The award is given as the recognition to children residing in India, above the age of five years and not exceeding eighteen years with exceptional abilities and outstanding achievement in the following 6 fields: Innovation, Scholastic Achievements, Sports, Art & Culture, Social Service and Bravery.
  • The awards to 29 children were given by the Prime Minister virtually by using Blockchain technology developed by IIT Kanpur under the National Blockchain Project.
  • This is the first time the award is given virtually through digital platform.

APPOINTMENTS / RESIGNATIONS

Coach of Indian Team for Asian Games

  • Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has approved the two-time World Squash Championships medalist Chris Walker as Foreign Coach for the Indian team for the Asian Games later this year.
  • The Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, from September 10 to 25.
