Tamil Nadu signs MoU’s to create 41,000 job opportunities
- Tamil Nadu govt has signed atleast 24 MoU’s worth 2,120 crore aimed to create 41,000 jobs with industries.
- It was signed at the Tamil nadu exports conclave organised as part of ‘Trade and Commerce Week’held from sep20-sep26 nationwide.
- These investments are made in the fields of steel, leather, chemicals, textiles, ITES, apparels and general manufacturing.
- These industrisl units are planned to be set in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Madurai, Salem, Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Thirupatthur, Krishnagiri, Thoothukudi, Dindugal and Tirunelvelli.
Blue Flag Certification for Kovalam beach
- Kovalam Beach situated near mamallapuram in Chengalpattu has been certified with blue flag.
- The Foundation for environment education (FEE) is the key authority that provides the certification.
- Thirty three parameters are considered for blue flag certification, Which includes water quality and e-coli percentage in water.
- Totally there are 10 beaches in India with this certification.
Expert committee has recommended Hetero to manufacture Sputnik V
- A subject expert committee recommended Hetero Biopharmacy’s proposal to maufacture the Russian Covid 19 vaccine Sputnik V.
- The Hetero group showed interim safety and immunogenicity from the phase III trails.
- The committee has granted to manufacture sputnik v for restricted use in emergency situations.

WHO set new guidelines to global air quality norms
- WHO sets new guidelines to reduce global air pollution from the limits set in 2005, since its impact on health from the past decade increased.
- This move does not have an immediate effect in India as the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) does not meet with WHO’s existing standards.
- The WHO guidelines states the annual average concemtrations of P.M 2.5 should not exceed 10 µg/m3, while 24-hour average exposures should not exceed 25 µg/m3 more than 3 times a year.
- Three interim target standards recommended by WHO for cities lagging from their goal:
- 15 µg/m3 annual mean, 37.5 µg/m3 24-hour mean
- 25 µg/m3 annual mean, 50 µg/m3 24-hour mean
- 35 µg/m3 annual mean, 75 µg/m3 24-hour mean.
