Web Portal For Mine Accident Reporting

  • Ministry of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affair launched a web portalto ensure real time reporting of accidents occuring in Coal Mines.
  • The portal has been developed by Coal India Limited (CIL) to facilitate accident investigation using root cause analysis techniques to ensure elimination of cause of accidents.
  • The portal will facilitate monitoring of actions to be taken by coal companies on the recommendations of various enquiries with a view to minimise such incidences.

Prime Minister Inaugurates Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya

  • Prime Minister on 14th April 15, 2022, inaugurated the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, in tribute of all former Prime Ministers.
  • Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya is a museum established in Teen Murti Bhavan, New Delhi, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
  • The museum is constructed with two blocks over 15600 sq.m can host upto 4000 visitors.

  • The Sangrahalaya logo is - hands holding the dharma chakra, symbolising the nation and democracy.
  • The museum has holograms, VR & AR, multimedia, multi touch, interactive kiosks and so on to make the establishment content interactive.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

Bilateral MoU between SEBI and Manitoba Securities Commission, Canada

  • Cabinet approved the bilateral MoU signed between Securities Exchange Board of India and the Manitoba Securities Commission of Canada.
  • The MoU enables cross-border co-operation in the area of securities regulations, would facilitate mutual assistance, contribute towards efficient performance of supervisory functions, aid in imparting technical domain knowledge and enable effective enforcement of the laws and regulations governing securities markets.
  • The MoU would also make investors from Manitoba eligible for registration as an FPI with SEBI.

MoC between India and Japan

  • Union Cabinet gave the approval of the Memorendum of Cooperation between India and Japan in the Decentralized Domestic Wastewater Management domain.
  • Giving effect to the MoC, a Management Council (MC) will be formed which will be responsible for the implementation of this MoC by formulating detailed activities of collaboration and the monitoring of its progress.

India Elected into 4 UN ECOSOC Bodies

  • India got elected into the following four key bodies in United Nations Economic and Social Council.
    1. Commission for Social Development
    2. Committee on NGOs
    3. Commission on Science & Technology for Development
    4. Ambassador Preeti Saran gets re-elected to Committee for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
  • The council acts as the think tank to achieve internationally achieved goals and also responsible for the follow-up to major UN conferences and summits.
  • UN Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes by Da’esh/ ISIL (UNITAD) has been given a fund of US$ 200,000 by India to aid - Development and use of chemical and biological weapons by ISIL and ISIL crimes against cultural heritage in Iraq.

Chairperson of National Commission for Minorities

  • Shri S. Iqbal Singh Lalpura has assumed charge as Chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities, NCM, in New Delhi.
  • He was renominated as Chairperson vide Ministry of Minority Affairs.
  • The Union Government set up the National Commission for Minorities under the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
  • Six religious communities namely - Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and Jains have been notified in Gazette of India as minority communities by the Union Government all over India.

 

OBITUARY

Dr. B R Ambedkar

  • Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar popularly known as Babasaheb, was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who Chaired the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly and was India's First Minister for Law and Justice.
  • He was born on 14th April 1891 in Madhya Pradesh.

Mwalimu Nyerere

  • Prime Minister of India paid tributes to the former Tanzanian President Mwalimu Nyerere on his 100th birth anniversary.
  • Julius Kambarage Nyerere was a Tanzanian anti-colonial activist, politician, and political theorist.
  • Ideologically an African nationalist and African socialist, he promoted a political philosophy known as Ujamaa.

 

MISCELLENEUS

Jallianwala Bagh Massacre

  • April 13th marks the 103rd year of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.
  • The massacre took place in Pubjab in 1919 on the auspicious day of Baisakhi.
  • General Reginald Edward Harry Dyer entered Jallianwala Bagh with his troops and blocked the entrance and ordered his soldiers to fire at the civilians gathered.
  • As per Congress, there were more than 1000 casualties due to this massacre but according to official numbers of British Government it was 350.
