NATIONAL
PM has inaugurated SARDARDHAM BHAVAN
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Sardardham Bhavan in Ahmedabad through Video conferencing.
• He also laid foundation to Sardardham Phase-2 Kanya Chhatralaya(girls hostel) dedicated to Iron man of India Sardhar Vallabhai Patel.
• It provides separate hostel facilities to girls and boys from rural areas for better career prospects.
• Phase I of the Sardardham Bhavan project is built over an area of 11,672 square feet at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore, which can accommodate 1600 students(800 boys and 800 girls).
• Phase II of this project is expected to house around 2,000 girl students with the cost of Rs 200 crore.
Mr. Bhupendra Patel to be the next CM of Gujarat
- Bhupendra patel has been chosen as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat at the BJP assembly after the resignation of Mr. Vijay Rupani.
- He is an elected MLA from Ghatlodia assembly in Ahmedabad.
INS DHRUV commissioned
- India’s first nuclear-missile tracking ship, named INS Dhruv, has been commissioned from Andhra Pradesh.
- It was built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited(HSL) along with a collaboration of DRDO.
About DHRUV:
- It is Capable of tracking nuclear missiles at a long range, which makes it useful to provide early warning of attacks by ballistic missiles.
- The ship will be fitted with a primary X band and a secondary S band Active electromically scanned array (AESA) radar.
- It will have a crew complement of 300 personnel and will carry a single helicopter.
- India now joins in the list of countries consisting of France, US, UK, Russia and China, who owns and operate such ships.
2+2 Dialog inaugurated
- India and Australia are undertaking their first-ever 2+2 ministerial dialogue in New Delhi.
- It was inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External AFfairs Minister S Jaishankar with their Australian counterparts Peter Dutton and Marise Payne.
- Aim of the dialog is to increase overall defence and stratergic coperation between two countries in Indo Pacific region.
INTERNATIONAL
Orca comes into operation
- The world’s largest plant designed to capture carbon dioxide from the air named Orca started its operations in Iceland.
- It is jointly developed by Carbfix in Iceland, in partnership with Swiss start-up Climeworks AG.
- It is designed to capture up to 4,000 tons of CO2 every year.
- The captured CO2 will be dropped underground at a depth of 1000metres where it transforms to become rocks.
