President Election

• The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that Presidential election would be held on July 18.
• The schedule was announced by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

Startup Expo

• Prime Minister of India Shri.Narendra Modi inaugurated Biotech startup Expo 2022 at NewDelhi.
• The major focus areas for the sector are health,agriculture,energy,natural farming and biofortified seeds.

Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat to participate in 'Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan' programme(multiple development programme).

• He will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development initiatives worth about three thousand fifty crore rupees at Khudvel, a tribal region in Navsari district.

• The Prime Minister will perform Bhumi Pujan for 13 water supply projects worth 961 crore rupees for residents of Tapi, Navsari and Surat districts. 

Universal Account Number

• Government is providing unique Universal Account Number(UAN) - 12 digit identification number to each worker to act as portable identity for continued enjoyment of rights at work.

• It was announced by Indian Labour Minister at International Labour Conference (ILC) which was held at Geneva.

BANKING

Current Account Deficit

• India's Current Account Deficit (CAD) deficit is likely to have hit a three year high of 1.8% of GDP in FY 22 compared with a surplus of 0.9% in FY 21, India ratings.

• Current Account Deficit (CAD) means value of imports is more than value of exports.

Five Trillion Economy

• PM Gati Shakti National Masterplan will help achieve India’s aim of five trillion-dollar economy, announced by Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Shri.Som Prakash at Industry stakeholder conference in New Delhi.

• India proposed to attain 5trillion USD by 2024-25.

Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development

• The 2nd edition of Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning, DSDP was organised in New Delhi.
• The top 30 districts were awarded for their innovative best practices in skill development in the region.
• Rajkot in Gujarat, Cachar in Assam and Satara in Maharashtra ranked top three among all participating districts.
• The award was provided by Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship - Shri.Dharmendra Pradhan.
