Entrepreneurial Programmes to India’s Youth

  • The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) individually with the Indian School of Business (ISB).

  • The main objective is to offer world-class management education through entrepreneurial programs targeted towards youth and job seeking entrepreneurs and budding entrepreneurs.

  • The partnership will enable the development and implementation of two programs.
  • One is Business Foundation and Entrepreneurial Skills and the other is Behavioral Skills Programme by ISB faculty and other Industry experts.

UP Government to Provide Unique Farm ID

  • Uttar Pradesh government will provide unique farm ID similar to Aadhar number to the farmers, which will be linked with Aadhar to provide them benefits of all government schemes.

  • Aadhar verification will be used to implement this scheme.

  • With the help of Aadhar, UP Government has given the benefit of the government schemes to maximum number of people.

  • Around one crore 92 lakh school children are also getting the benefit of various schemes with the help of Aadhar card verification.

Two-Day National Conference of Mines Ministers

  • The Union Ministry of Coal and Mines organised a two-day National Conference of Mines Ministers in Hyderabad on 09 September 2022.
  • The meeting will focus on formulating new and effective strategies to further encourage mineral exploration in the country.
  •  It will also assess the effectiveness of recent policy reforms brought about by the Centre in the mining sector.
  • The conference is also expected to strengthen the cooperation between the ministry of mines and various State governments.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Scholarship on Indian Students

  • Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina conferred the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Student Scholarship at a function in New Delhi.

  • The first ever Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Student Scholarships was conferred on the direct descendants of soldiers, officers of Armed Forces of India who were martyred or critically wounded during the historic Liberation war of 1971.

  • It was conferred on 100 students of class 10 and 100 students of class 12.

Axis Bank Partners with PayNearby

  • Private sector lender Axis Bank partnered with fintech PayNearby to offer opening of savings and current bank accounts for both last mile retailers and customers.
  • This initiative will enable Axis Bank to leverage PayNearby’s tech-backed distribution-as-a-service (DaaS) network of over 50 lakh micro-entrepreneurs.
  • It will empower Axis Bank and PayNearby to reach out to potential customers in remote regions of the country, and address common issues faced by them such as hassle of documentation, long processes, technology, lack of proximity and fear of a formal environment.
  • This will also simplify banking for retail shop owners and individual customers.

First Indian to Win Zurich Diamond League Final

  • Tokyo Olympic gold medallist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has achieved yet another historic feat as he became the first Indian to win the prestigious Zurich Diamond League Final 2022 in Switzerland.
  • Neeraj Chopra’s second throw, measuring 88.44 metre, won him the Diamond League trophy.
  • Olympic silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic finished second with a best throw of 86.94 metre.
  • Julian Weber of Germany was third with a best of 83.73metre.

Human Development Index 2021

  • 2021 Human Development Index (HDI) is part of the Human Development Report 2021-2022 released by the United Nations Development Programme.

  • It is calculated using four indicators namely life expectancy at birth, mean years of schooling, expected years of schooling and the Gross National Income (GNI) per capita.

  • India ranked 132nd among 191 countries and territories on the 2021 Human Development Index (HDI).
  • Switzerland remained at the top position, followed by Norway and Iceland.
  • In the 2020 report, India had ranked 131st among 189 countries and territories. The decline in the country’s performance from its previous level was on account of a fall in life expectancy.

International Travel Awards 2023

  • West Bengal has bagged the International Travel Award 2023.

  • It has been facilitated for best destination for culture’ by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA), an affiliate of the UN World Tourism Organization.

  • The award will be conferred in Berlin at the World Tourism and Aviation Leaders’ Summit on 09 March 2023.
  • PATWA is an organization of travel writers that was founded in 1998.

World Physiotherapy Day

  • World Physiotherapy Day is celebrated every year on 08 September.

  • Physiotherapy deals with the management of chronic conditions and underlying issues related to pain.

  • This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the crucial role physiotherapists play in keeping people fit and improving quality of life.

  • It was first observed in 1996.
  • The theme for the year 2022 is ‘Prevention and Management of Osteoarthritis’.

 

OBITUTARY

Legendary Artist Ram Chandra Manjhi

  • Bhojpuri folk theatre art “Launda Naach” and legendary artist Ram Chandra Manjhi passed away. He was at the age of 97.
  • He was felicitated with Sangeet Natak Academy Awar and Padma Shri awarde in the field of Arts.
  • The Launda Naach is a prominent Bhojpuri folk art of Bihar comprising songs, dance, comedy, satire, parody and theatre.
  • He was one of the members of the original troupe of Bhikhari Thakur, known as Shakespeare of Bhojpuri language.

UK's Longest-Serving Monarch Queen Elizabeth II

  • Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest-serving monarch, has passed away. She was at the age of 96.
  • The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed enormous social change.
  • The Queen was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, in Mayfair, London, on 21 April 1926.
  • She ruled over Britain for 70 years.
