Medical Colleges in Sambhal

• The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday signed an MoU for setting up medical colleges in the states Sambhal and Maharajganj districts under the public-private partnership mode.
• The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
• The state government has set a target of establishing medical colleges in Sambhal and Maharajganj districts by 2024.

West Bengal Forms Committee On NEP

• The West Bengal government constituted a 10-member committee to examine the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and assess the need for a state-level policy on education.

• The committee also examine the recent UGC guidelines.
• The committee will evaluate steps taken by states such as Maharashtra and Kerala in the education sector after NEP 2020 was unveiled by the Centre.

MIB Constituted Promotion Task Force

• The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has constituted the animation, visual effects, gaming and comics (AVGC) promotion task force to promote the AVGC sector in the country.

•  The government’s intention to form the task force was first made in the union budget 2022-23.

• The task force will submit its first action plan in 90 days.
• The AVGC promotion task force will be headed by the MIB secretary.
• It will also be responsible for farming a national AVGC policy.

India to Contribute UNESCO Fund

• India’s contribution of 72,124 Dollars to UNESCO Fund for Elimination of Doping in Sport in 2022 was released by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

• It is a considerably enhanced contribution of twice the assessed value.

• As per the resolution of 7th COP held at Paris in September 2019, the State Parties had agreed for one percent of the contribution of the regular budget of respective nation to UNESCO towards the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport.

IGDTUW Signs with Malaysian Government

• Delhi government-run Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women signed a pact with the Universiti Malaysia Perlis

• It is to promote bilateral research opportunities in the field of science and technology.
• This MoU of educational cooperation between Malaysian university and IGDTUW will open avenues for faculty and students exchange programmes at international level.
• The educational cooperation will promote research and innovation by the students of two universities in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
• This will help universities in creating awareness on technological advances among the students and faculty members.
• It will also boost the ranking of one of the fastest growing universities of India-IGDTUW, at the national and international level.

RBI Monetary Policy

• On 08 April 2022, The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) based on an assessment of the macroeconomic situation.

• RBI keeps repo rate unchanged at 4% and Reverse repo rate at 3.35%.

• The Marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the bank rate remain unchanged at 4.25 percent.

Union Bank launches UnionNXT – SMBHAV

• Union Bank of India has introduced UnionNXT, a super-app, and SMBHAV, a digital transformation initiative with a budget of Rs 1,000 crore for the current financial year 2022-23.

• The public sector lender anticipates a two-year recovery from the spending and a goal of having 50% of business originate on the digital platform by 2025.
• A banking super-app essentially combines a variety of services on a single platform, including payments, online shopping, bill payments, recharges, investment, loans, and cash transfers.
• The Mumbai-based public sector lender would broaden the scope of its super-app for the marketplace, allowing users to use app features to purchase consumer goods and services.

DBS Bank India Partners with Social Alpha

• DBS Bank India announced its partnership with Social Alpha, an innovation curation and venture development platform for tech startups, to address the global issue of food waste through sustainable solutions.

• The partnership helps DBS' commitment to support entrepreneurial efforts toward addressing productivity and supply chain efficiency issues, leading to food waste and value erosion in the food and agri sector.

• Techtonic Innovations Towards Zero Food Waste, presented by DBS and powered by Social Alpha, is a two-year program that identifies innovative and scalable solutions by entrepreneurs to help reduce quantitative and qualitative food loss and waste across food systems and agri-food value chains.

Inflation Projection by RBI

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has projected India’s Inflation to be 5.7 percent for FY23 from earlier projection of 4.5 percent.

• It has also projected India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth at 7.2 percent for 2022- 2023 form earlier projection of 7.8 percent.

Sant Namdeo National Award

• Meghalaya Governor Satyapal Malik and farmer Research and Analysis Wing Director A S Dulat have been honoured with the Sant Namdeo National Award, for the years 2021 and 2020, respectively.

• They were awarded by Pune-based non-government organization Sarhad.

• Sarhad is a social, cultural and educational organization dedicated to the welfare of the strife hit people in bordering areas of India.

• IndusInd Bank announced that its flagship mobile application for merchants – 'Indus Merchant Solutions' has been awarded the 'Outstanding Digital CX - SME Payments' in the Digital CX Awards 2022.

• Army Ordnance Corps celebrated its 247^th raising day on 08 April.

• The corps came into existence with the establishment of the Board of Ordnance on 08 April 1775.

• It is entrusted with the task of managing a large and complex inventory and providing logistic support to the Army.
