Pfizer, a US Pharmaceutical company has developed a global drug development center on the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras research park campus.
The center has been set up by Pfizer at a cost of over Rs. 150 crore and is spread over 61,000 square feet and has 10 laboratories.
It will develop and support products in its global markets and manufacturing centers.
The center’s capabilities will include the development of both, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage forms (FDFs) of differentiated products.
Pfizer currently has three manufacturing units in Visakhapatnam, Goa and Ahmedabad.

E-commerce major Flipkart signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Paschim Banga Society of Skill Development (PBSSD), part of the West Bengal government's technical education.
It is to impart industry training to youths to help create a pool of skilled supply chain operators in the state.
Candidates will be given an opportunity to do on-the-job training at Flipkart facility for 45 days as trainees at a stipend of Rs 17,500.
This partnership will help bridge the skill gap for the booming warehousing and supply chain industry in West Bengal besides enhancing commercial and social development in the state.
Flipkart launched the Supply Chain Operations Academy in 2021.

JITO Connect 2022 is a global summit organised by Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) in Pune.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural ceremony virtually.
The theme of this summit is ‘Together Towards Tomorrow’.
JITO Connect is an endeavour to help business and industry by providing a mutual networking and personal interactions.

Union Minister for MSME Shri Narayan Rane inaugurated the ‘Enterprise India National Coir Conclave 2022’.
It is being organised under the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
The main objective of the conclave is on the development of new products and new applications of coir through product development, product diversification and adoption of new technologies.
It plays an instrumental role in enhancing exports and adding to MSME’s share in GDP of the country.
It is being organized to bring about a co-ordinated effort between the State and Central Governments to promote production of coir and coir products and to identify new areas of application of coir.
A ‘Run for Coir’ is also being organized on 6th May 2022 to promote the use of coir, as a natural, degradable, eco-friendly product.

Tata Power Solar Systems has bagged India’s largest solar engineering procurement and construction (EPC) order for 1 GW project worth Rs. 5,500 crore from state-owned hydroelectric power generation company SJVN Ltd.
The project will be developed under the CPSU (central public sector undertaking) scheme of Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and will be completed within 24 months.
The project Covers 5,000 acres of land in Rajasthan. It aims at reducing around 22,87,128 kg of carbon emission and is expected to generate around 2,500 million units annually.

Technology giants Apple, Google, and Microsoft have announced to create a common “passwordless” sign-in standard that will allow easy, secure authentication options for users across devices and platforms.
It will expand support for the new sign-in standard, created jointly by the Fast Identity Online (FIDO) Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
FIDO Alliance's goal is to replace passwords with more secure, encrypted biometric authentication systems.

Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Manohar Lal launched the Vehicle Movement Tracking System (VMTS) Mobile App.
This App has been designed and developed by National Informatics Centre, Haryana.
This is a generalized app and it can be used for multi-purposes like to track vehicles having sand, concrete, mining etc.

Activist Cecile Ndjebet of Cameroon won the Wangari Maathai Forest Champions Award for the year 2022.
The award was conferred at a ceremony during the XV World Forestry Congress which was held in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
The award was given in recognition of her outstanding contribution to preserving forests and improving the lives of people who depend on them.
The award was presented by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF), which is chaired by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
She has actively presented that women's participation in forest governance and preservation is fundamental to achieve sustainable forest management.

Tata Motors has reappointed former SBI Chairman Om Prakash Bhatt as an additional director.
Earlier, he was appointed as a non-executive independent director of Tata Motors from May 9 2017 for a term of five years till May 8 2022.
He brings years of experience across a wide variety of strategic and operational roles. He had earlier served as Chairman and CEO of State Bank of India.

International No Diet Day is celebrated every year on 06 May.
This day is to promote a healthy life style with a focus on health at any size and in raising awareness of the potential dangers of diet.
It also raises awareness about weight discrimination.
It was first started by Mary Evans in 1992.

World Athletics Day is celebrated every year on 07 May.
It is to raise awareness among children and young people about the importance of fitness and encourage them to play sports, especially athletics.
The day was founded by IAAF president Primo Nebiolo in 1996.
World Athletics Day is part of the IAAF’s social responsibility project ‘Athletics for a Better World’.
