53rd Raising Day celebrations of Central Industrial Security Force

  • The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is celebrating its 53rd Raising Day at the 5th Reserve Battalion, Indirapuram on 06 March.

  • Union Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah attended the meeting.

  • Medals were presented to Officers and Jawans of CISF for gallantry and outstanding services and also released the Force's magazine 'Sentinel-2022'
  • Amit Shah encouraged a hybrid security model and mentioned that CISF and the private sector to come together to provide effective security to various private industrial and manufacturing sector units.

PM to Inaugurate Multiple Projects in Pune

  • The Prime Minister will inaugurate a 12 km stretch of the total 32.2 km Pune Metro Rail Project.

  • The entire project is being built at a total cost of approximately Rs. 11,400 crore.

  • This project is an attempt to provide world-class infrastructure for urban mobility in Pune.
  • During his visit he will also inaugurate and inspect the Exhibition at Garware Metro Station and will undertake a metro ride from there to Anandnagar Metro Station.
  • Prime Minister will unveil the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the premises of Pune Municipal Corporation. The statue is made up of 1,850 kg gunmetal and is about 9.5 feet tall.
  • He also laid the foundation stone of rejuvenation and pollution abatement of the Mula-Mutha River projects on the concept of "One City One Operator" at a cost of over ₹ 1,470 crore.

Indian Navy Successfully Test-Fires BrahMos Missile

  • The Indian Navy successfully demonstrated the accuracy of an extended-range land-attack Brahmos supersonic cruise missile from the stealth destroyer INS Chennai.
  • Both Brahmos missile and INS Chennai are indigenously built.
  • INS Chennai is constructed by the Mazagon Dock Limited at Mumbai.
  • BrahMos is a joint venture between the Defence Research and Development Organisation of India (DRDO) and the NPOM of Russia.
  • It flies at a speed of 2.8 Mach or three times the speed of sound. It has a range of 290 km and can carry a 200 kg warhead.

NSE Joins Hand with Telangana Government

  • Leading stock exchange National Stock Exchange (NSE) has collaborated with the Telangana government to encourage and support the MSMEs (micro, small & medium enterprises) of the state for listing.

  • NSE with the support of the Telangana government will conduct awareness drive through seminars, camps, knowledge sessions, road shows and workshops to guide corporates across the state in fund raising on NSE Emerge platform.

  • The state will also set up a government-sponsored equity participation fund to invest in the fast-growing SMEs on the exchange platform.

GoI Approves Modernisation Plan-IV

  • The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the Modernisation Plan-IV for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) scheme, in continuation of the scheme Modernisation Plan-III for CAPFs.

  • It is approved in order to improve the overall operational efficiency with a financial outlay of Rs. 1, 523 crore.

  • The scheme will be implemented from 1 February 2022 to 31 March 2026.
  • Under this project the CAPFs will be equipped with modern state-of-the-art equipment and weapons as per the operational requirements while keeping in view their deployment pattern in various theatres.
  • CAPFs will also be provided with improved IT solutions.

Jio World Centre

  • Reliance Industries Ltd. announced that it had opened the country’s largest and most prestigious multi-faceted destination, the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, Maharashtra.

  • A first-of-its-kind destination in India, the Jio World Centre includes a cultural centre, a musical fountain, an upscale retail experience, a curated selection of cafés and fine dining restaurants, serviced apartments and offices, and the state-of-the-art convention facility.

  • It has hybrid and digital experiences enabled by the 5G network.
  • RIL also dedicated Dhirubhai Ambani Square.
  • The Dhirubhai Ambani Square is centered around the Fountain of Joy, a series of spectacular fountain shows of water, lights & music.

 

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

Naval Exercise SLINEX

  • On 07 March 2022, Naval Exercise between India and Sri Lanka named SLINEX will be conducted at Visakhapatnam.

  • This year marks the 9th edition.

  • The exercise will be conducted in two phases
  • The first phase is the harbour phase which is conducted at Visakhapatnam on March 07 and March 08 2022, followed by the sea phase on March 9 and March 10 2022, in the Bay of Bengal.
  • Sri Lankan Navy will be represented by SLNS Sayurala, an advanced offshore patrol vessel and the Indian Navy by INS Kirch, a guided missile corvette.
  • SLINEX aims to enhance inter-operability, improve mutual understanding and exchange best practices and procedures for multi-faceted maritime operations between both navies.
  • It is conducted to strengthen mutual cooperation, in line with India’s policy of ‘Neighbourhood First’ and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of ‘Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR)’.

Indian Oil Partners with Kotak Mahindra Bank

  • Kotak Mahindra Bank and Indian Oil Corporation announced a strategic partnership to launch the Indian Oil Kotak co-branded fuel credit card.

  • The collaboration will offer more value to customers in the form of an enhanced rewards programme.
  • This partnership will give customers value on fuel spends and on special non-fuel and frequent-spend categories, such as dining and groceries.
  • New co-branded credit card will be another initiative to promote the government’s vision of a Digital India.

SPORTS

Gold Medal in ISSF World Cup

  • Indian women's team of Rahi Sarnobat, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan won the gold medal in the category of 25m pistol event in International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World cup in Cairo, Egyp.
  • They defeated Singapore with the shot of 17-13.
  • It is the 5th medal for India in the tournament.

Mithali Raj at Six Cricket World Cups

  • India captain, Mithali Raj became only the third cricketer and the first woman to appear in six World Cups.

  • She has played in the ICC women’s cricket world cup events in 2000, 2005, 2009, 2013, 2017 and now in 2022.

  • The ICC women’s cricket world cup 2022 is being held in New Zealand.
  • In the women's game, the Indian batter surpassed former New Zealand cricketer Debbie Hockley and Charlotte Edwards of England.
  • Fast bowler Jhulan Goswami, stands second on the list with five World Cup appearance.

Special Jury Award

  • National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) was awarded the “Special Jury Award” at the 7th India Industry Water Conclave and the 9th edition of the FICCI Water Awards.
  • The award was given to recognize an important work of NMCG that is engaged in to bring about a paradigm shift in water management.
  • It also emphasized the complexity of the task of rejuvenation of the entire Ganga basin and the importance of engaging with diverse stakeholders particularly the people- river connect which forms the basis of NMCG's approach to the challenging task.

 

APPOINTMENTS AND RESIGNATIONS

Chairperson of TDSAT

  • The Central government appointed Justice DN Patel, Chief Justice of High Court to the post of chairperson, Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT).

  • He will serve for a period of 4 years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or till attaining the age of 70 years.

  • The conditions of service shall be governed by the provisions of the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2021 and the Tribunal (Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021.
