12th Edition of India Chem-2022

• Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the 12th edition of Biennial International Exhibition and Conference India Chem 2022 at New Delhi on 02 November 2022.
• India Chem 2022 has been organised by the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) from 02 -03 November 2022.
• The Theme of the 12th India Chem 2022 is ‘Vision 2030: Chemicals and Petrochemicals Build India.’

Greenfield Airport at Hollongi as ‘Donyi Polo Airport

• The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved naming of greenfield airport at Hollongi, Itanagar as ‘Donyi Polo Airport.
• A resolution was passed by the state government of Arunachal Pradesh to name this airport 'Donny Polo Airport, Itanagar'.
• The 'Doni Polo' reflects the people's respect for the Sun (Doni) and the Moon (Polo), symbols of the state's traditions and rich cultural heritage.
• Doni Polo Airport in Itanagar is the 16th airport in Northeast India.
• The project is being developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in collaboration with the Central Government and the State Government of Arunachal Pradesh at a cost of Rs 646 crore.

Banking Conferences of Asia, FIBAC 2022

• Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das inaugurated one of the largest annual banking conferences of Asia, FIBAC 2022 in Mumbai on 02 November 2022.
• The FIBAC 2022 has been organized by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Indian Bank’s Association (IBA) on 02 and 03 November 2022 at Mumbai, Maharashtra.
• Theme of the Conference is 'Helping India step change its growth: How tech enabled banking can contribute to realization of $5 trillion economy goal’.
• During the event, he announced that the central bank hopes to launch digitized Kisan Credit Card loans in a full-fledged manner by the calendar year 2023.
• Indian Bank Association is an association of Banks and Financial institutions in India which was set up in 1946.

Northeast’s First Fish Museum

• A fish museum, the first of its kind in the Northeast, would soon be built in Arunachal Pradesh, which was announced by the Fisheries Minister Tage Taki.
• The museum will be a part of the Integrated Aqua Park (IAP)sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Fisheries.
• It will have all the fish species of the state and will act as a training center for the fishermen.
• The proposed cost of the project is Rs 100 crore.
• Rs 43.59 crore was sanctioned for the project in the current financial year as first instalment.

Invest Karnataka - 2022 Summit

• The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural function of the Global Investors Meet Invest Karnataka 2022 through video conferencing on 02 November 2022.
• The key themes to be addressed during the event will be related to innovation, sustainability, equity and resilience.
• The aim of the Summit is to attract potential investors and establish a growth agenda for the next decade.
• More than 80 speakers will present their views in the three-day event to be held in Bengaluru.

Cabinet Approves MoU Between India and Denmark

• On 02 November 2022, the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Denmark on cooperation in the field of Water Resources Development and Management.
• According to the Cabinet the MoU will strengthen cooperation in the field of water resources development and management; rural water supply and sewage/wastewater treatment through direct collaboration between officials, academics, water sectors and industry in the areas under scope of cooperation.
• In September 2020, the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched a Joint Statement on establishment of Green Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

International Book Fair

• The 41st international book fair, being organised by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) will be held from 02 November to 13 November 2022 at Expo Centre Sharjah.
• The book fair will host several award-winning authors, intellectuals and other literary figures from across the world.
• This year's theme of the fair is 'Spread the Word'.
• The Publications Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India is participating in the Sharjah International Book Fair.
• The Publications Division will offer readers and book lovers a wide variety of books on the history of the Indian freedom struggle and freedom fighters.
• Readers will get a chance to read more than 100 books and magazines in various Indian languages on various subjects.

Track Asia Cup 2022

• Kerala is set to host the Track Asia Cup-2022 cycling tournament, one of the biggest cycling events from 25 to 28 November 2022.

• Around 200 cyclists from over 25 countries in Asia will take part in the event, which is being conducted outside Delhi for the first time.

• Track Asia Cup Cycling 2022 is sanctioned by Asian Cycling Confederation and Cycling Federation of India.

• Track Asia cup is also the selection of Asian countries for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Women Officer to the Post of Inspector General

• India’s largest paramilitary force Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has promoted two women officers to the rank of Inspector General for the first time.

• An IG is the head of a sector in CRPF.

• Annie Abraham has been appointed as the IG of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Seema Dhundia has been posted as IG of the Bihar Sector.

• The Rapid Action Force (RAF) is a specialised anti-riot force of the CRPF.
• The Bihar Sector of CRPF commands about four battalions that are deployed for anti-Naxal operations and other law and order duties.

Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution

• Sanjeev Chopra has assumed charge as the Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution with effect from 31 October 2022.
• He is a 1990 batch IAS officer of Odisha cadre.
• He served as District Collector and District Magistrate in Koraput, Odisha from 1995 to 1997.
• He served as the Managing Director of State Co-operative Banks during 2000-2004.
• He has also served as Secretary in departments like Industry, General Administration, Agriculture and Home.
• He has been awarded the National e-Governance Award by the Government of India for Excellence in Government Process Re-engineering for Digital Transformation in the year 2020 and 2021.

SpaceX Launches First Falcon Heavy Mission

• SpaceX's Falcon Heavy, the world's most powerful active rocket was launched for the first time after three years on 01 November 2022, from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

• Under this mission, satellites of the US Space Force have been sent into space from the Falcon Heavy rocket.

• The weight of this rocket is equal to the weight of two space shutters, which weigh 63.8 tonnes.

• The230-foot-long rocket has 27 Merlin engines, which makes it the world's most powerful rocket.

International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists

• International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists is observed every year on 02 November.

• The day came into existence when the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed a resolution in December 2013.

• The day draws attention to the level of impunity for crimes against journalists.

• The day also aims to end impunity for crimes against journalists and to guarantee freedom of expression and access to information for all citizens.
